Artificial Grass FAQs – What you Need to Know
Initially, Astroturf was a brand-name for artificial grass, so they were the same thing. Nowadays though, Astroturf is used more to refer to sports pitches with artificial grass. 3G refers to the rubber crumb used to cushion the surface and allow a ball to bounce on Astroturf pitches. Artificial grass is a broad term to use for all man-made materials used to replicate natural grass.
If you have a square or rectangular garden, just multiply the length of your garden by the width. It is more difficult to work out areas of gardens that aren’t squares or rectangles though, however we can carry this job out for you before giving you the artificial lawn cost.
This depends on the artificial grass you choose to install. We have three different types of artificial grass – including luxury artificial grass – and they all have different prices. We’ll happily provide free artificial grass samples, along with quotes, to help you decide which is best for you. For a rough estimate, please use our price calculator, which is found on all artificial grass product pages.
On average, artificial grass will have a life of around 20 years, during which there will be little to no maintenance required. Of course, the life of artificial grass gardens will depend on how regularly they are used though.
An artificial lawn can get hotter than natural grass, especially on hot summer days – although these aren’t too common in Essex! There are ways to reduce how hot your artificial grass gets though, and we would be happy to discuss these with you before or after installation.
This is entirely dependent on how large you want your artificial lawn to be – the bigger it is, the longer the job will take. We have lots of experience in installing artificial grass though, so can provide an accurate timeframe before we start the job.
The best artificial grass we offer is our Supreme Signature 37mm product. This is a luxury artificial grass, which is soft underfoot and best replicates real grass. We also have two other types of artificial grass available too, and we can provide free artificial grass samples to you.
You will need to clean your artificial grass regularly, but this can be done simply by spraying the artificial grass with water. Some also choose to occasionally brush their artificial grass, just to clean away leaves and any other items that have built up. Cleaning your artificial grass is nowhere near as time consuming and labour intensive as mowing your lawn though!
There is no reason why you couldn’t use artificial grass indoors, as unlike natural grass, it doesn’t need water or sunlight in order to thrive. As the top artificial grass company in Essex, we’re happy to install artificial grass anywhere, including inside, if required!
The actual blades of grass are made using polyethylene. A substance called polypropylene is then used for the thatch layer, which provides a cushioned feel. The materials have been chosen as they’re long-lasting and, in the case of polyethylene, soft to touch.
You will find that artificial grass will flatten in areas of heavy footfall. Don’t worry though, as this is exceptionally easy to fix. Simply brush the grass once a month, which will encourage the flattened blades to return to their original positions.
Quite simply, the artificial grass is manufactured with tiny holes in it, allowing the water to seep away into the aggregate base below. In many cases, laying artificial lawn will actually provide better drainage than natural grass would.
Top quality artificial lawns – such as all those supplied by us – are not very slippery when wet. In fact, artificial lawns are less slippery than natural grass lawns, as there’s no mud and also rainwater often drains away much faster.
As with many things, yes, you can, however it can be a complex job and the end result might not be particularly high quality. We have worked with loads of customers throughout Brentwood and beyond, so you can be sure of a perfect finish when you use our professional service.
Artificial grass is actually better than natural grass in this regard, as it will not die after being urinated on by a dog. Dog faeces is also not a problem – just scoop it up and then quickly rinse the affected area.
